You Are Who You Are Right Now

Who are you? I ask the question because, in my mind, it takes time to tell if the people you meet are really

who and what you think they are.

If a man, or a woman, meets Michael Jordon, they might say, “MJ is the greatest basketball player in NBA history.”

Well, he may have been the greatest player during his professional basketball career, but he is not the “greatest” basketball player        of today. Today, Michael Jordan is a pretty good businessman.

People older than 50 years old may not agree with “history” descriptions because they know MJ was a prolific scorer but

He never scored 100 points in a game like Wilt Chamberlin, Michael Jordan won six NBA Championships, and LeBron James has won four, but Bill Russell won more NBA Championships than Jordan and James, combined. Bill won 11 championships.

Anyway, when you meet someone at a party or nightclub, people will usually describe themselves with the best adjectives

they can. Oh, “She has a big butt and a smile.” Or, “He drives his Mom’s Benz and has a fake gold chain.?”

At the club, when questions arise, a woman might say, “I’m a physical therapist” even though she only took a class or two and really works at Walmart. A man might say, “I’m a businessman” when he really sells five-dollar sacks of bad weed on the neighborhood corner.

What kind of car do you drive, or what side of town do you live in, are other questions that may be asked.

Anyone can be anything for a moment or a conversation. The truth is, we all, are who we are, right now!

When asked, I tell people I’m a writer.  In the second grade of elementary school, I wrote a poem, and I’ve been writing

    since that time.

Writing and reading have always been important to African Americans. Slave masters killed slaves who attempted to read and write.

I had no idea that my writing and media work would be enjoyed by people around the world. I also learned that news writers are not the highest-paid people in the workforce.

When I’m asked, “Are you, “The Gantt Report” guy? I always say, yes. I write without fear or favor. God gave me a gift, and I use it to try and inform my people.

Every few years, or so, I say I’m going to quit writing columns about economics and politics. The young journalists I thought would replace me like writing internet posts more than they enjoy sharing knowledge and wisdom.

Keisha Alphabet is a promising writer who is now a guest TGR writer. I really wanted writers of all ages, genders, and political affiliations. If you are interested in being a TGR guest columnist, contact and message me at theganttreporttruth.com.

Don’t be fooled by tricks or tricksters. Take your time to find out if people you meet are truly who and what they say they are.

If you like women and men who love to laugh, drink, party, and chase, good for you. I like to know if people close to me are honest, respectful, loyal, lovable, and want to relate to me.

What men and women are where alcohol is served may change when serious situations need serious attention.

Be deliberate when judging new acquaintances.

We are who we are right now!
