The Friendly Skies Are Not Friendly Now

One major airline had a memorable slogan that encouraged passengers to "fly the friendly skies" of the airline.

Well, the skies are not friendly today. It's almost Mother's Day in 2026 and gasoline prices are approaching five dollars a gallon in many states and in California, prices could get up to nine or ten dollars a gallon.

I plan to go to Lagos, Nigeria in August to attend a business conference. Atlanta to the Motherland is quite a long and expensive flight. If you want the comfort of First Class or Business Class prepare to spend thousands of dollars on your plane tickets.

The increases in oil prices also causes rises in jet fuel. Higher priced plane tickets will hurt far more people than the media would have you to think.

Follow me. The costs of everything related to air travel will increase and the prices may never return to the price of oil before Trump and Netanyahu made arbitrary, and somewhat malicious, decisions to bomb Iran. They claimed Iran had nuclear weapons or were close to having nuclear bombs.

Hmmm? Trump previously said Iran's nuclear enrichment program was obliterated. He also Iranian civilization would be devastated if Iranians refused to do what the US and Israel wanted and desired.

If you've read TGR over the years false conclusions and promises about Iran, Iraq, Syria and other countries "okey dokey" politics!

Let's find places to bomb so we can diminish military supplies here, and in Israel, so we can buy more bombs from defense contractors who love the President.

Iran does do some uranium enrichment, they say for nuclear energy power and not bombs. Whatever Iran has or wants, the Iranian people should decide, not Netanyahu and Trump.

Billionaires in the airline industry, like defense contractors, are covering and expanding the profits by suggesting the whole industry is harmed by economic impacts of Trump's wars, and tariffs.

But they shouldn't blame airline passengers.

Can I prove it? I think so.

In my mind, oil prices, like coffee prices, and the prices of other commodities go up and down on a regular basis.

Keep following me. If airlines were hit with devastating economic conditions, why aren't all airlines impacted similarly? Why is Spirit Airline in the process of bankruptcy and other airlines are just rolling in ticket sales, shipping, and profits, even if the profits are smaller?

Check this. Some airlines fill their jet fuel tanks at airports the plane lands in. Smarter carriers, like Southwest Airlines, for instance, buys fuel in bulk quantities when prices are low. If oil prices increase, the smart airlines have perfected their buying methods by knowing how much fuel they will need for periods of time.

Only the greedy airlines might say, "Increase ticket prices so the passengers can pay the higher fuel bills and we can maintain our immense salaries, stock dividends, etc."

I love to travel. I have plans to go to St. Croix for business, to St. Marten for Caribbean fun, and possibly on an Amazon river cruise. I heard Amazon ladies were very attractive.
